The 2017 OUTstanding list of Leading LGBT+ Executives, presented by the Financial Times, recognises leading individuals within the workplace who have gone above and beyond to champion the LGBT+ agenda. Matt’s inclusion in the list is testament to his dedication to promoting the benefits of a diverse workforce here at ITV, as well as an inclusive LGBT+ friendly society.
Matt’s been pretty busy over the years. In addition to his day job, managing a team of over 100 and a multi-million pound P&L, Matt is co-chair of our LGBT+ network ITV Pride and previously chair of InterMediaUK, an LGBT network group for people working across the media industry. He’s a key champion of ITV Pride in all our UK sites, and this year he was instrumental in UTV (acquired by ITV) taking part in Belfast Pride as the first media organisation to do so. On a daily basis, he works closely with our Board, Recruitment and HR teams to promote LGBT+ awareness, support and advice here at ITV. More recently, Matt has worked with the organisation ‘All About Trans’ to promote trans awareness and inclusion in the workplace.
Outside of ITV, Matt supports charities such as Just Like Us, Stonewall and the Terrence Higgins Trust. He’s an important collaborator with the Pride London team, helping deliver the annual event, and regularly contributes to thought pieces and roundtable discussions about this agenda. He has even been invited by the Prime Minister to Number 10 to celebrate the work of the LGBT+ community on behalf of ITV and ITV Pride.
The positive change Matt has driven is invaluable both to us at ITV and the wider LGBT+ community. We’re really proud that Matt has been recognised for his hard work, and we’ll continue to support him in his efforts to do even more.
