Supporting the DEC’s Myanmar Appeal

ITV supports the Disasters Emergency Committee emergency appeal for people fleeing Myanmar

In the past month, hundreds of thousands of people have fled violence in Rakhine state, Myanmar, with the majority seeking refuge in Bangladesh. More than half a million people, mostly Rohingya women and children, are in urgent need of shelter, medical care, water and food as they arrive exhausted and traumatised in overflowing camps and settlements in Bangladesh.

To help support those in most need, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) launched their emergency appeal in October. We aired the 3 minute appeal films on our ITV, ITV2 and ITV3 channels.

DEC brings together 13 leading UK aid agencies to raise money at times of humanitarian crisis in developing countries. We are proud to back DEC’s vital work as part of its Rapid Response Network. Working alongside other UK broadcasters, major high street banks, Post Office, BT and a range of other corporate partners, we support the DEC by creating the on air appeal films and broadcasting them on our ITV, ITV2 and ITV3 channels. Using our audience reach, we help to achieve maximum awareness and cost-effective ways for the public to make donations.

With more funds, DEC’s member charities can respond to the growing needs of the refugees, as well as help the overstretched communities hosting them. To donate to this emergency appeal, please go to
